COMPANY HISTORYThe business was originally started in 1988 by John Hardy, F.C.A. and has grown and developed throughout the years. As a Group we work with independent retailers and suppliers and other service providers. Although a National Company, S & L UK has always been Northern based with its roots firmly embedded in Yorkshire. 2003 saw many changes to the structure of the company following the passing of its founder and the taking up of the reins by his widow, Ann Hardy, when she amalgamated a number of businesses under the S & L UK Group banner. THE PRESENTThere have been many changes throughout the business during the last twelve months such as becoming a Limited Company but the Directors did not lose sight of their objectives which is always to be professional in all their dealings. The Group is expanding with new suppliers being introduced on a regular basis. The Directors and employees of S & L UK are enthusiastic about the industry they work in and welcome any enquiries from prospective retailers who would like to learn more about membership of the Group.THE FUTUREThe company has a reputation for being forward thinking which is why we are pleased to be associated with UK Youth, The John Hardy Trust and Kids 4 Kids. The aim of the Group is to not only aid our retailers with their day to day business opportunities but to help promote sports, fitness and activity in all ages, especially the young. We feel educating our young people is important and for us that means a "play sport, don't just watch sport" culture and a "be active, be well" philosophy.The future growth of the business will envisage us continuing to work with industry suppliers, import complimentary services and to develop similar programmes into other associated areas as well as other industries.
